SAN JOSE, Calif. - November 19, 2001 - MultiGen-Paradigm, the leading provider of realtime 3D software and solutions for the creation and deployment of visual and sensor simulation, simulation based training, urban simulation and 3D GIS visualization applications, announced today that CommunityViz(tm), The Orton Family Foundation's decision support system for city planners, will use MultiGen-Paradigm's SiteBuilder 3D program as its 3D visualization tool. SiteBuilder 3D will enable CommunityViz users to rapidly create realistic realtime 3D scenes directly from their map data and interact with other CommunityViz modules.
SiteBuilder 3D rapidly creates 3D terrain models directly from common elevation data sources which can then be draped with either a map, high-resolution aerial imagery or satellite imagery. With its built-in library of photo-realistic 3D models and textures, users are able to transform their 2D map symbols into compelling 3D features. SiteBuilder 3D also gives users the freedom to move anywhere within the 3D scene, allowing the elements to be viewed from any vantage point desired. Users are able to make changes to the 3D scene and communicate these changes directly to CommunityViz's powerful Scenario Constructor and Policy Simulator modules, which makes this a quick and manageable development environment.
"CommunityViz's implementation of SiteBuilder 3D technology will result in a very powerful 3D GIS planning tool. The ability to create accurate, realistic and fully interactive scenes will greatly enhance a city and community's understanding of planning issues and enable them to make better decisions," said Jon Zucker, SiteBuilder 3D product manager for MultiGen-Paradigm. "We are please to be partnering with the Orton Family Foundation and intend on further enhancing their application as SiteBuilder 3D grows."
"We are excited about this partnership with MultiGen-Paradigm and believe that SiteBuilder 3D will make CommunityViz an even better planning tool," said Andy Bush, director of CommunityViz for the Orton Family Foundation. "In addition to the scenario constructor and policy simulator tools within CommunityViz, SiteBuilder 3D will give city planners an additional way in
which to visualize their land-use scenarios."
