The PLMIG announces the first results of the PLM in the USA initiative. Initial findings show that American companies have evolved a view of PLM that is less complete than the general view in Europe, which means that some key PLM activities and benefits are being overlooked or neglected.
Whilst the discussions are not yet detailed enough to identify the relative strengths of American experience, it is clear that there is substantial scope for formalisation and dissemination of best practice so that companies can aim for more complete implementations.
The initiative continues, and PLM practitioners from all types of PLM-related organisations are welcome to take part. Details of how to do so are published at www.plmig.com.
The PLM Interest Group
The PLM Interest Group is a global Group which brings together its members to work proactively to solve their PLM problems. It is developing a new generation of applied PLM standards, and has previously run workshops that have produced the PLM Benchmarking Handbook; the PLM-SCM Guidebook; and the PLM Maturity Reference Manual.
