Geometric to show CAMWorks® 2010 at EASTEC

Scottsdale, Arizona, May 4, 2010: Geometric, a leader in developing advanced manufacturing software will showcase CAMWorks® 2010, the latest version of its solid-based CNC programming solution, at Booth # 5454 at the EASTEC 2010 exposition, to be held at the Eastern States Exposition, West Springfield, Mass., from May 25 -27, 2010.

“This is the 13th year we’ll be attending the event and are looking forward to demonstrating the powerful new capabilities of CAMWorks 2010. CAMWorks 2010 focuses on further strengthening the already robust machining capabilities in turning and multi-axis milling. Numerous improvements have also been made to enable users to program parts faster and more easily”, said Donnie Dorsey, Channel Sales Manager, Geometric Technologies.

CAMWorks 2010 includes many improvements to multi-axis machining, which enable toolpath generation on increasingly complex part models. New controls have been added to simplify processing of impellers and blisks. Safely entering and retracting from the part has become more flexible and easier than previous versions.

In turning, the ability to define variable allowances along the feature provides more control, while at the same time reduces the time and complexity of programming. For turning and mill/turn machining involving irregular casting stock shapes, an STL file can now be used to represent the stock. While creating a more realistic simulation, this also simplifies the stock definition and results in a more efficient and predictable toolpath.

Visualization enhancements have been made to feature, tooling, and stock display. These changes offer a more realistic representation of the machining environment to simplify programming and improve productivity.

In addition, other features enable the NC programmer to machine parts faster and easier. The computation for machining time has been modified and updated to provide a more accurate estimate. This information can be used for costing and process planning purposes. Support for SQL Server Express has been added to improve performance in large scale deployments of CAMWorks.

CAMWorks 2010 supports SolidWorks 2009 and 2010, and CAMWorks Solids 2009 and 2010, running under 32- and 64-bit XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

About CAMWorks
CAMWorks was the first Gold Partner CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) solution designed exclusively to operate in SolidWorks. CAMWorks can run within SolidWorks, or as part of a cost‐effective CAD/CAM package that includes CAMWorks Solids, an integrated solid modeler.
