EdgeCAM Adds Direct Integration to Sandvik Coroguide Online Product

READING, England (June 5, 2003): The latest release of EdgeCAM, Pathtrace’s offline programming software, provides direct integration with the Sandvik Coroguide electronic tooling catalogue. This allows EdgeCAM users to directly import tooling parameters and significantly reduce the time taken for programming and tooling set up.

The Coroguide is an electronic catalogue of some 25,000 tooling components, searchable by application or product category, and allows the user to select or construct tool assemblies from these components.

David Boucher, Pathtrace Research and Development Director said, “Our long-standing relationship with Sandvik will enable EdgeCAM users to stay at the forefront of cutting tool technology. This latest software release adds the benefits of integration with (Sandvik’s) tooling catalogue allowing Sandvik tooling assemblies to be directly loaded into the EdgeCAM ToolStore.” Sandvik training centers are using EdgeCAM, promoting the benefits of the best-practice machining techniques developed for use with their latest cutting tools.

Wãinõ Kaarto, Global Business Development Manager, Mold & Die Making at Sandvik Coromant maintains, “We are extremely pleased to offer all EdgeCAM users our complete tooling and cutting data which will facilitate the choice of modern, high production tools. We also believe that together with the strong features and functionality in EdgeCAM 7.75 this will be a winning combination to increase competitiveness of Pathtrace and Sandvik customers.”

Because of the positive results already being enjoyed, Sandvik anticipate strengthening the technical cooperation in mold and die machining between the two companies. “Intelligent CAM strategies developed in close relation to cutting tool features is important because it enables our worldwide mold & die customers to cut lead times and improve profitability,” he said.
