The EuroMold exhibition beginning of December in Frankfurt/Germany has been our last major event for the year 2009. On this "World Fair for Moldmaking and Tooling, Design and Application Development", we demonstrated the upcoming version SolidCAM2010 with a lot of new features. For a summary of the EuroMold show, please click here.

Visitors have been also attracted by a complete set of chess figures we showcased at our booth. We demonstrated the CNC programming of the chess figures with SolidCAM for a 5-axis Hermle machine. The real machining of a chess horse can be watched at Youtube.

  • SolidCAM+SolidWorks seminar in Turkey

  • SolidCAM´s reseller in Turkey, Teknolojik Yazilimlar ve Makina Ticaret ("Tekyaz"), invited about 500 participants to its annual user meeting, where the newest versions of SolidWorks, SolidCAM, and other related products have been shown. With more than 30 highly skilled engineers, Tekyaz sells and supports the SolidCAM+SolidWorks solution via offices in Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, Konya and Ankara and via various subresellers.

In Turkey meanwhile more than 250 customers using SolidCAM, among them prestigeous companies such as Basar Makina and Yilmaz Reduktor. Serkan Ekinci, responsible for the SolidCAM sales within Tekyaz (see photo), presented the new features of SolidCAM 2010. He highlighted the support for 64 Bit Computing, the new "toolbox" for 2.5D Milling, the enhanced tooltable for 3D tools and holders, and the new automated 5-axis Drill operation, that accelerates the drilling of "Swiss cheese" type of parts. Mr. Ekinci also gave a first overview about SolidCAM´s revolutionary cutting technology "iMachining". iMachining enables cutting through the material with much higher feed rates and larger cut depths, which results in significantly higher metal removal rates while prolonging tool life.

Tekyaz also announced the company Solid Teknoloji ve Makina Tic. Ltd. Sti. as their additional subreseller for SolidCAM in Turkey. Tarik Ozkan from Solid Teknoloji: "We are located at the Asian side of Istanbul and will have our main focus there. Due to our tight cooperation with Tekyaz we can also now provide SolidCAM as a powerful and seamlessly integrated CAM solution to our SolidWorks customers. "

  • Launch in the Netherlands

  • SolidCAM´s reseller Cad2M invited its customers to the launch of the new versions of SolidWorks and SolidCAM. 250 participants attended the event, held in the Burger´s Zoo in Arnhem (NL). Alfred Uytdewilligen, CEO of Cad2M: "Our mission is to optimize the design-to-product cycle in the manufacturing industry. We achieve this by supplying CAD, CAM and PDM products, all integrated with each other, plus the best professional support to make it all work at the customers´site."

Aloys Heutink, Senior CAD/CAM specialist of Cad2M (see photo), demonstrated the new features of SolidCAM in a special session, where he highlighted also some of the vertical market activities of Cad2M:

    • Production with Multi-Tasking machines
Recently Cad2M demonstrated the combined solution SolidCAM+SolidWorks at an open house event at MAZAK Netherlands, with more than 100 participants attending. All aspects of integrated manufacturing, including multi-tasking mill-turn and multi-axis machines, SolidCAM+ SolidWorks , cutter tools and holding systems have been presented.

    • New SolidCAM tutorials in Dutch for Education
In the Netherlands SolidWorks is meanwhile the leading 3D design software for educational institutes like technical universities or vocational schools. 12 SolidWorks tutorials with more than 200 exercises are now available in the Dutch language. Due to the increasing demand to complement SolidWorks with the integrated CAM solution SolidCAM, Cad2M has now also developed SolidCAM tutorials in Dutch language, that are especially dedicated to the vocational schools.
All market segments benefit from the time savings of an integrated CAD/CAM solution. Experts estimate the savings of Single-window integration and Ease-of-use at about 40 % and the savings of the associativity between toolpath and 3D design model up to 65 %.
