conference explores the "Future of Engineering"
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 16, 2003 — Cyon Research Corporation, a provider of analysis, research and consulting for engineering technology markets, kicked off COFES2003 (Congress On the Future of Engineering Software) yesterday with a well-attended reception and open house.
At the COFES2003 opening ceremonies, attendees were given an opportunity to meet and converse with the conference’s technology suite hosts in an open, casual environment. The informal event set the stage for the upcoming conference, which focuses the intense exchange of ideas and defining issues in the engineering software industry, rather than sales and marketing.
“At COFES, we have an opportunity to meet with people directly involved in engineering technology to discuss our products and vision for the future in an environment that is geared toward achieving shared business objectives,” said Irv Christy, director of marketing at CoCeate Software.
According HP, title sponsor of the event, “HP is excited about being an integral part of COFES2003 where we'll be showcasing today’s computing solutions for MCAD and AEC professionals, as well as looking to the future,” said Scott Cox, North American MCAD Program Manager for HP. “This year we’ll be highlighting mobility solutions from HP and Compaq. For engineers solving problems characterized by big data and big memory, Intel Itanium-based workstations will run head-to-head against their 32-bit counterparts to show where 64-bit systems have the advantage.”
During the next three days, conference attendees will be treated to keynote speeches from top industry visionaries like Alan Kay, vendor briefings, and a variety of expert-hosted analyst briefings on all aspects of engineering. There will also be a western-style cookout Friday night at a restored Spanish Mission, and a golf scramble Sunday to closeout the event.
Over the past four years, COFES has proven itself a mainstay of the industry as attendees work together to determine, define, and clarify the business issues concerning users and vendors that rely on MCAD, AEC, and design and engineering technologies.
