Surfware Donates 2D CAM Software to Manufacturers Worldwide
(Westlake Village, California, USA - October 23, 2001) In support of American manufacturing, Surfware, Inc., developers of SURFCAM(r) CAD/CAM Systems, announced today that they are donating a slimmed-down version of their prominent 2-axis manufacturing software to manufacturers worldwide. This new product, called SURFCAM 2D Free, is a complete CAD/CAM system, offering IGES-in and DXF-in translators, 2-axis pocketing, drilling and contouring capabilities, integrated NC verify, an NC editor, basic DNC (direct numeric control) and a selection of standard posts.
The software will be freely distributed via the SURFCAM website,, the only requirements being that the user have a valid email address and provide basic company information when registering. After registering users will be given the option to download the software directly from the SURFCAM website or can request the software on CD. The software will operate for 60 days; at the end of the 60-day period users can renew their registration, free of charge. Additional posts, training and support for the new SURFCAM 2D Free product can be purchased through the SURFCAM dealer network.
Users can pre-register for the software now; product will become available for download and shipping on November 15, 2001.
