04 June 2008: Cambridge – The GeoInformation® Group, publishers of Cities Revealed aerial photography (
www.citiesrevealed.com), announces that it has committed to an annual high-resolution aerial survey of London. This commitment is a direct result of a new long-term partnership, with a major UK Plc, that will last until 2014.
The aerial survey programme, that starts this year, will capture half of the capital every year at 10cm resolution. The photography, acquired by the latest digital aerial survey cameras, will be orthorectified to highly accurate GPS data and combined with the most recent, highly detailed Cities Revealed LIDAR terrain model. The resultant aerial photography will create the most up-to-date commercially available modern aerial archive of London.
Alun Jones, Managing Director commented, “This six year partnership will benefit all of our clients who are thinking about updating their aerial imagery or commissioning a new survey. We are very excited by this new and unique London flying programme. The imagery will be available off the shelf, thus reducing costs and delivery times and will ensure regular updates to clients wanting to keep their archive as current as possible.”
This new aerial archive will be used to maintain and update the Cities Revealed geoinformation database portfolio, including Land Use, Building Class and Building Heights. Clients will benefit from the assurance of a highly compatible and consistent geographical data resource.
