Quickparts Manufactures Parts for RedXDefense's XPAK to Solve TV Crime

ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 07, 2008 -- Quickparts, ( http://www.quickparts.com) one of North America's largest providers of custom designed parts, from rapid prototyping to production parts, recently completed a project with RedXDefense that was featured on CSI: MIAMI.

Quickparts manufactured parts for RedXDefense's portable explosives detection system, the XPAK, which was featured on the popular CBS television series, CSI: MIAMI, on Monday, April 28th. In this episode, entitled "Tunnel Vision," the show's main characters used the XPAK to help solve a crime. Viewers were taken inside the XPAK as the explosives detection occurred.

The XPAK, currently deployed with the military and homeland security, utilizes proprietary detection ink to detect trace amounts of explosives in a simple, fast, and inexpensive manner. The technology, developed and exclusively licensed from University of California, San Diego, has many potential uses, including the detection of trace explosives on fingerprints left by someone who has handled explosives and the detection of trace explosives on objects or vehicles.

"We are excited to be part of the process that showcases the XPAK in a forensic application. And, we are always happy to work together with a team that believes the fight against terrorism begins much earlier," said Ronald L. Hollis, President and CEO, Quickparts.

By detecting trace amounts of explosives on people, packages, vehicles and many other surfaces, the XPAK serves as a useful tool for gathering evidence on bomb-making facilities and bomb-makers. "Quickparts is committed to working with all sectors of the product development community in order to ensure that we as a country are able to fight the war on terror," comments Hollis.
