Quickparts Introduces New Rapid Prototyping Materials for SLS and SLA

ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Sep 18, 2007 -- Quickparts ( http://www.quickparts.com), the leading online provider of custom-manufactured plastic and metal parts, announced it is now offering new, improved materials for Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and Stereolithography (SLA) rapid prototyping applications.

Quickparts now provides two new SLS materials, Flame Retardant Nylon (ALM FR-106) and Durable Nylon (Duraform EX). Flame Retardant Nylon is a polyamide blend that is specifically engineered for the production of parts requiring excellent fire retardant characteristics. The new rapid fire retardant material is a durable and tough Nylon 11, offering flexibility and impact resistance while still maintaining superior mechanical properties. Flame Retardant Nylon is ideal for producing anything from functional prototypes to production parts.

The new Durable Nylon (Duraform EX) features outstanding toughness and excellent impact resistance. The Durable Nylon (Duraform EX) provides the toughness of injection-molded plastic that motorsport, aerospace, and automotive industries require for demanding prototyping and low- to mid-volume manufacturing applications. Durable Nylon (Duraform EX) is ideal for the manufacturing of electronics enclosures, manifolds, impellers, and snap-fit designs because of its stiffness, long-term stability and durability.

"Flame Retardant Nylon and Durable Nylon parts are both great for living hinges and other snap features that have previously been far too fragile in any prototype material to give realistic feedback," said Michael Maurice, Vice President of Operations.

Now also available through Quickparts is the new SLA High-Impact ABS-Like (DMX), which produces very accurate parts with high feature detail.

"The High-Impact ABS-Like is a very tough material that brings with its strength the cosmetic beauty of the SLA process," said Mr. Maurice. "No longer does the customer have to choose between form and function."

Quickparts users now have the capability to build custom-designed parts that are durable, accurate and still have excellent detail by utilizing the High-Impact ABS-Like (DMX) material.

The new materials used in Quickparts' rapid prototyping applications are manufactured under high quality control standards. Detailed quality control test results are provided with each shipment of material to certify conformance for the more rigorous production specifications typically encountered in rapid manufacturing applications.

Ordering the new materials is quick and easy with Quickparts' patent-pending QuickQuote® process, providing instant online price quotes 24x7. With Quickparts' QuickQuote technology, users simply upload a 3D Cad (computer-aided design) model, select a manufacturing process and a custom quote will be created in seconds.
