Design Visualization Goes Virtual At Pinnfarina With BUNKSPEED

Bunkspeed 3D solutions standardize use of photographic prototypes during design phase

Los Angeles, California, August 8, 2007 – Bunkspeed announced today that its 3D solution sets have been chosen by Pininfarina to standardize visualization of the automaker’s potential designs and design colors and materials.

Pininfarina has always been a company that worked at a high rhythm, aligned with the renowned speed of their trademark Ferraris and Maseratis, or concept cars and one-off’s such as the Maserati “Birdcage” that was built to celebrate the company’s 75th anniversary.

Now Pininfarina’s designers can use Bunkspeed’s visualization solutions to even further improve and speed up their design process, by instantly applying different paints, materials, lighting, and environments to their digital models. Pininfarina expects this new technology to reduce costs while adding more flexibility during the design phase.

“Bunkspeed’s visualization software essentially allows us to do much more than we previously could during the design and styling processes,” affirmed Lowie Vermeersch, Director of Design at Pininfarina. “For example, now we can develop and explore even more creative solutions within ever more ambitious time schedules and budgets. Furthermore, one feels clearly the passion that went into the development of the software, resulting in an attractive visualization of our designs and offering us the possibility to present them to our clients in the best conditions.“

He concluded, “There’s also no sacrifice of quality – in fact, Bunkspeed’s software produces astonishingly realistic imagery.”

After a thorough evaluation against several competing products, Bunkspeed emerged as the clear winner. Pininfarina discovered that, unlike other applications that often take years to master, Bunkspeed’s 3D rendering solutions can be learned in under an hour. Both novices and experts can use the tools to swiftly create 3D imagery out of even the most complex data sets.

And Bunkspeed products are also easily integrated into just about any workplace environment. No special hardware or software is required – Bunkspeed solutions easily stand alone on any desktop without disrupting the enterprise’s current design systems.

Philip Lunn, Bunkspeed CEO, said, “It’s certainly an honor for us to be chosen as the visualization technology provider by such a premiere name in the auto industry. We very much look forward to expanding our relationship with Pininfarina - and seeing the exciting designs they produce in part with help from Bunkspeed solutions.”

Bunkspeed is hosting an exclusive event together with Pininfarina at the Keating Hotel in San Diego, on August 8th, 2007, to celebrate the future of design. To see the latest Bunkspeed solutions in action, visit Bunkpeed at Siggraph 2007 in San Diego, CA, August 7th – 9th .
