The winner is...

In the last Newsletter, we invited our customers to participate in the "SolidCAM customer survey 2007". Thanks to everybody, who submitted a survey to us. We will work very hard to convert your inputs into better products and services.

As promised, we did a draw among all participants for an IPOD Nano. The lucky winner is Jim Appel (see Photo), who is a Tooling Supervisor at Panoramic Inc., Janesville (WI), USA .

Dear Graham,

CIMdata, the worldwide strategic consultancy company for Product Life Cycle Management (PLM), published recently the "NC Software and Related Services Market Assessment" report Version 16. The 198-page document provides information about the worldwide market for CAM software products and services. The report analyses the market size, various technical aspects concerning the industrial use of CAM software and techniques, trends in the CAM software industry, market share of CAM vendors and reseller revenues.

CIMdata estimates the growth of the worldwide CAM software market in 2006 at a rate of 6.9% over 2005. CIMdata also acknowledges SolidCAM as the Consistent growth leader for CAM in the last five years with annual growth rates in the 30% range. It is important to note, that SolidCAM achieved this solely by internal growth and without external acquisitions. CIMdata is projecting that SolidCAM will be the most rapidly growing CAM vendor for 2007.

Dear reader, we a are proud of our continuous success, which we achieved together with our loyal user family. We are committed to constantly supplying you with new features to increase the productivity in manufacturing.

  • BS Plastic manufactures with SolidWorks+SolidCAM

  • BS Plastic A/S is one of the pioneers on plastic manufacturing in Denmark. In the last years, the company transitioned from a craftsman-oriented way of work to an innovative production shop for plastic parts. BS Plastic manufactures small series of plastic parts by CNC milling for a variety of companies, such as machinery producers and windmill factories.

To program the vertical CNC milling machines, BS Plastic invested in 3 seats of the combined solution SolidCAM+SolidWorks . Steen Simonsen, the owner and Managing Director ( see photo ) states: "Flexibility is the keyword in our organisation. We have to be very fast in changing from one job to the next, because our survival is depending on small series of parts. SolidCAM is easy and fast to use, and has minimized the time it takes from receiving a 3D model file from a customer till we start producing the part." The programming time has in some cases been reduced to a tenth, and where a complicated part in the past could take more that a week to produce, it can now be done in less then one day.

  • SolidCAM`s Turkish reseller Tekyaz exhibited at the "Bursa Mold 2007", with took place from May 24-27 in the city of Bursa. The automation of the entire mold manufacturing process by the fully integrated solution SolidWorks+IMOLD+SolidCAM has been presented. IMOLD is the partner of SolidWorks and SolidCAM for mold design.

IMOLD provides efficient design tools for plastic injection molds including a core-cavity builder, mold base design, slider and cooling channel design as well as electrode design. SolidCAM is integrated in the same SolidWorks window and generates the G-Code for the machining of core, cavity and electrodes. SolidCAM´s High-Speed Machining (HSM) module smooths the paths of both cutting moves and retracts wherever possible to maintain a continuous machine tool motion. Tekyaz´ SolidCAM Sales manager A.Barish Kuldasli stated: "The Turkish moldmakers realized the benefits of the seamless integration: all geometries used for machining are fully associative with the mold design model. When the geometry of the mold design is modified, SolidCAM enables the user to automatically synchronize all machining operations with the updated geometry. This saves our customers time and money."
