The ability to work with curve, solid and surface data in the same environment, which has always been one of the greatest strengths of this CAD solution, has now been expanded in version 2006.2. Additional features for interactive solid modelling and associative curve and surface analysis bring even greater flexibility and efficiency to the design process.
Substantial productivity increases are not rare with hyperCAD® as it has a tried and tested, easy-to-understand user interface and intelligent functions for the automation of a wide range of work processes. Based on the think3 geometric kernel, the latest release of the versatile and user-friendly 2-D and 3-D CAD system from OPEN MIND has been furnished with a variety of new features to simplify work processes and enhance productivity.
Interactive solid modelling
Compared to previous versions, solid modelling with hyperCAD® 2006.2 is faster, easier, and less error prone. Solids can now be modified much more simply, no longer exclusively in single layers or parametrically. Objects can be very precisely prepared for CAM programming, for example, by closing surfaces. In addition, the interactive solid modelling comprises functions for closing solids as well as shifting, offsetting, removing and replacing surfaces. This therefore makes it much easier to modify solids and reduces the CAM preparation for generating error-free milling paths to a minimum.
Surface and curve associativity
A detailed history for each skin (open solid) is maintained in the new version, a feature that additionally eases the work process. Shortcuts to elements that were used during the creation of each skin are always preserved. If the user changes the base elements, the CAD software automatically updates the surface/skin. All surface commands for skins and solids can now be employed in an associative manner. Trim skin’, Extend skin surface’, Extend surface curves', and 'Change and approximate continuity’ are all possible commands.
Additional improvements to hyperCAD® 2006.2 allow curves to be created with behaviour associative to the elements from which they are derived. The resulting curves are linked in the model structure at specific points to the elements from which they emerge, allowing subsequent design changes to be realised with greater speed.
An additional new feature in hyperCAD® 2006.2 is 'point coordinate label’ dimensioning, which enables the display of a reference point’s X, Y, and Z coordinates. A new capping mode has also improved the object rounding function. It enables Coons surfaces on corners to be avoided.

hyperCAD® is a user-friendly CAD system which, alongside its standard interfaces, can import data directly from CATIA V4, CATIA V5, Unigraphics, Parasolid, and Solidworks. Seamless integration with the CAM application hyperMILL® provides for maximum CAD/CAM workflow continuity via a standardised user interface.
Whether the user is working with a 2D or a 3D model, points or curves, solid or surface models, native or imported data – no limitations are placed on design and modification. Functionality like SMART OBJECTS also reduces the amount of design work required. GLOBAL SHAPE MODELLING is an especially efficient tool that makes it easy to modify and create new variants of your models. The MODEL SPLITTING function generates the corresponding molds from a model in next to no time and the EXPAND SURFACES function prepares the object for seamless integration with CAM software.
