Vero Helps Unitex Press the Right Button

Pressing the right button One of the worlds leading designers and manufacturers of tools, garment and sporting goods accessories have significantly improved consistency from design through to tooling after the successful introduction of VISI software from Vero International Software. Originally formed in Taiwan in 1949, and now with offices in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Shanghai, Unitex International Button Accessories Ltd (Unitex) are one of the largest button and accessory manufacturers in Asia producing a range of metal, polyester, urea buttons, and is the exclusive licensee for National Moulding Corporation DURAFLEX/ D-Flex brand buckles, plastic hardware and precision moulding productions. With over 1,000 employees and a turnover of more that 120 million HK$, Unitex have become a leading producer to the worlds market.  Since the first installation of VISI in 2001, Unitex are now running 30 seats of VISI software including VISI-Progress, VISI-Wire and also the first license of VISI-Flow for plastic flow analysis in China.  “Originally running many different CAD systems caused its own problems” claims Jenny Chen, Mould manager of Unitex, “each system followed their own logic and it took too long to train our staff. The previous software all had their own individual strengths, but were not dedicated tooling design systems. We needed software that could produce tooling accurately and quickly to cut our costs. The deciding factor for choosing VISI was the ease of use and the fact that the software was focused not only in product design but also in the design of tooling” With the help of a local Vero support team in Shanghai, the installation and training of the VISI software took only one week.  Senior product design engineer Davis Dai states, “The introduction of the Vero software has proved to be a step forward. It takes less time to train my people and it’s now much easier to see any potential design mistakes before they are passed onto manufacture”. The commitment and investment in the latest technology had allowed Unitex to extend the use of CADCAM software into the manufacturing department. Vero has supplied Unitex with Wire EDM software for use on the Centech EDM wire machines and 3D toolpath creation for the (AWEA) CNC machines. Discussing the introduction of the VISI software, CNC engineer Dennis Ma states “My department has seen an increase in output and a large reduction in error. This is mainly because we can foresee any problems before we do our jobs”. Commenting on Unitex’s decision to work closely with Vero, Chen concludes, “We are impressed with the capabilities of the software and equally impressed with its ease of use and the levels of technical support provided by the Vero team. It is important for us to know that we have commitment from a key supplier if we are to move forward together in the future.”

Vero International Software is represented in over 40 countries by more than 80 distributors and, in addition to its extensive dealer network, has its own direct sales operations in the UK, France, Italy, USA, Japan, China and Canada.
