Dimensional Planner Added to Dimensional Metrology Applications

Origin International: Dimensional Planner recently added to the suite of CheckMate dimensional metrology applications

Toronto, ON – March 12, 2007 – Origin International Inc. is pleased to announce the recent addition of Dimensional Planner to the suite of CheckMate dimensional metrology applications.
Dimensional Planner is a new application developed by Origin that enables manufacturers in automotive, aerospace and consumer packaged goods to quickly and easily balloon all their print requirements and communicate those requirements much more effectively within their supply chain. Are you ballooning your prints by hand?

“Many manufacturers and their suppliers are marking up their print requirements by hand with balloon labels to indicate all the dimensions that need to be checked. These hand-written balloons are meant to assign the numeric label to be used in the dimensional report or PPAP, to cross reference back to the print requirements. This painstaking effort is typically wasted because the hand written balloons don’t connect the smart information of the dimensions to the label. And even when CAD applications are used to balloon the print requirements, the label is just a circle with a number.” states Murray Desnoyer, Origin’s CEO.

Ballooning Example

Dimensional Planner balloons contain all the smarts necessary to effectively communicate all your print requirements. Dimensional Planner not only balloons each feature uniquely but also adds nominal size and location, as well as tolerance information directly to the label so that this information can be shared seamlessly throughout the supply chain. Get everyone working from the same plan. No more surprises when you buyoff parts, tools and gauges. Share your dimensional plans with your suppliers. Reduce your risk, errors and waste.
With Dimensional Planner, designers, tooling engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers and technicians can quickly and easily point out all the features that need to be checked. Clarifications and revisions can also be made directly onto the part model to keep all the dimensional requirements in one manageable electronic package throughout the product development and certification process.

“We’re a long time CheckMate user and we’ve been using Dimensional Planner for months now” states Bob Stanage of Quality Model & Pattern in Grand Rapids, Michigan. “Our designers use it to specify the dimensional checks for gauge and fixture certifications. What we like most, besides the ease of use, is the ability to send the dimensional plans from CheckMate to our customers for re-use later. Our customers are able to re-use the dimensional checks for buy-off, as well as their annual re-certifications. We look at this as a value added service that increases customer satisfaction and gives us a competitive advantage.”

Plan, Measure, Analyze and Report

“We see our customers using Dimensional Planner to communicate their dimensional requirements more effectively by eliminating tedious data entry and re-entry at each step in the process, as well as by avoiding costly mistakes, oversights and miscommunications that come from manually ballooning prints” concludes Murray. Contact Origin today to find out more about Dimensional Planner and the CheckMate applications available to support all your dimensional metrology needs.
