NC Graphics To Preview 5-Axis Machining At SolidWorks World 2007

NC Graphics (Cambridge) Ltd today announced that it will demonstrate DEPOCAM at the SolidWorks World 2007 Conference, being held from Feb. 4 through Feb. 7, 2007 in New Orleans. The ninth annual SolidWorks World Conference brings together designers, engineers, managers, and partners to discuss ideas, trends, and the technology shaping the future of mechanical design.

Since becoming a SolidWorks Certified CAM Partner in April 2006, NC Graphics’ network of independent DEPOCAM distributors has rapidly expanded, especially across Asia.

“SolidWorks World 2007, gives us an excellent opportunity to introduce DEPOCAM to the entire global SolidWorks community,“ says Estelle Dunsmuir, Marketing Manager for NC Graphics. “We were therefore delighted to be selected to host a theatre slot on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 4.30PM to show SolidWorks users and resellers alike how DEPOCAM’s ease of use compliments SolidWorks® 3D CAD perfectly.”
NC Graphics will be previewing DEPOCAM 2007 at their booth (No. 249). This new release will include new simultaneous 5-axis facilities, which maintain DEPOCAM’s ease of use, by generating collision free 5-axis tool-paths (Side Step Machining) from the existing 3-axis tool-paths. This will enable users to machine deep cores and cavities using short cutters, to give improved surface finish and accuracy. In addition, a 5-axis tip avoidance feature will be available for ball cutters, allowing the user to tilt the tool axis to avoid tip cutting.

Further 5-axis development will be released later in 2007, which will include flank or swarf machining. This will enable the user to set the cutter axis parallel to the surface of the part, so that the tool is cutting on its flank, which will be particularly useful for machining surfaces that are curved in one direction. This method will improve metal removal rates, surface finish and will avoid the need for using taper cutters on canted walls.
“SolidWorks is the standard for 3D CAD software,” said SolidWorks Solution Partner Program Manager Efrat Ravid. “Combining it with DEPOCAM enables engineers to streamline product development, reduce errors, and be more creative.”

NC Graphics still have DEPOCAM reselling opportunities available in various countries – enquiries are most welcome. Please enquire direct at SolidWorks World or email your enquiry to Estelle Dunsmuir at Email Contact .

About NC Graphics (Cambridge) Ltd

NC Graphics (Cambridge) Ltd has been supplying advanced CAM solutions since the company was founded in 1977, by its Managing Director Dr. Arthur Flutter, in Cambridge, UK.

First released in 1997, NC Graphics DEPOCAM HSM CAM software is a stand-alone CAM system well known for its very user-friendly interface, with a typical learning curve of just one day required to machine a live job. Tool-paths are optimised, for HSM machining, to extend tool life and to reduce wear on the machine tool while producing parts with excellent surface finish.
DEPOCAM is not a modular system, but includes all features as standard which include many advanced 3D machining routines, automatic 3D roughing, core roughing, rest roughing and 3 + 2 capabilities for all tool-paths, as well as 2D and 2.5D machining, advanced drilling routines and full 5 axis which will shortly be available.
