Kineo CAM Releases KPP-SDK

Labège, France , December 4th, 2006:  Kineo C.A.M. announces the release of its brand new KPP-SDK™ software solution.

KPP-SDK™ is built on KPP™ software product and allows the user to develop his own custom and proprietary modules through standard Application Programming Interfaces (API).

A lot of our customers were asking for specific features which were difficult to consider as part of the general roadmap of the KPP™ new releases. Some times it was too specific, some other times the content was too confidential to be exposed.” explains Etienne Ferré, the Kineo CAM’s CTO. “KPP-SDK™ brings an effective answer; the user will continue to benefit from all the existing features and capabilities of KPP™ and he will be able to enrich it with his proprietary functions by its own or by our service team while keeping the IPs”.

With KPP-SDK™ we target not only end-users but also all the niche market software Developers. KPP-SDK™ provides the core software architecture needed to build a custom application dealing with static and dynamic collision detection, motions… With KPP-SDK™ the Developers can market their own commercial application as a specialized software plug-in” highlights Laurent Maniscalco, Kineo CAM’s CEO. “It took us several men-years for achieving a rich, stable and extendable 3D environment that valorises our automatic path planning technology. Today huge industrial and public organizations which are our customers in Europe, Americas and Asia benefit from it. By developing plug-ins on top of KPP™, niche market software Developers will focus their efforts on their added-values; easier, faster, safely.”

KPP™ combines CAD readers, 3D engine, collision detection, interference analyzer to compute and validate system’s motion. With its KPP-Device™ module for easily editing complex kinematics of articulated systems, it covers a large range of uses like Manufacturing robots, Medical robots or highly articulated Nuclear systems.

KPP-SDK™ opens KPP™ standard API to extend the fields of use in many ways, for example:

-        adding physical properties in motion,

-        connecting external devices like haptic, 3D recognition device,

-        linking KPP™ to specific customer’s 3D database,

-        creating dedicated Robot simulator and real-time monitoring,

-        implementing task planning and scheduling,

-        integrating customer’s business constraints in simulation,

-        specifying trajectory optimizations,

-        writing proprietary CAD readers,

-        generating Mannequin ergonomic postures,

-        embedding GUI-less KPP™ engine in industrial systems,

-

Two early customers have been already delivered with KPP-SDK™, the Japanese AIST– French CNRS joint robotic laboratory “JRL” and a worldwide leading automobile constructor in Japan. KPP-SDK™ general availability is forecasted in 2007 Q1.
