Jury chooses Metris

Jury Chairman Paul Buysse on the ‘Onderneming van het Jaar 2006’: ”For me, the most important aspect of this election is the enthusiastic professionalism of the companies that are hopefully a symbol for the many thousands of entrepreneurs and company managers who, sometimes against all fiscal or economic trends, drive their companies forward to a profitable and socially responsible future. In this context, Metris was elected because of its relentless inventive dynamism, professional elaboration of an original strategic development, and application of the essential basic concepts of sound management. This young company possesses the potential to develop into a major world player by judiciously pushing back its technological and geographic horizons.”

To be eligible for the title of ‘Onderneming van het Jaar’, companies have to meet a number of key criteria. Candidates are selected through meticulous screening, which always follows the same pattern. The dossiers of the various candidates are evaluated and then the companies are subjected to a quantitative and qualitative analysis in the shape of an audit performed by Ernst & Young. On the basis of the results, six companies were ultimately nominated. Arinso International, Cegeka Groep, Groep A.S.Adventure, Groep J.C. Wibo Vlassenroot, Metris International and Team Industries then personally presented their cases to the independent jury. Based on these presentations and the comprehensive dossier, the jury finally chose Metris International as the final winner for the ‘Onderneming van het Jaar 2006’.

The jury of the ‘Onderneming van het Jaar’ consists of representatives from the business and academic world. Baron Paul Buysse has been Jury Chairman for several years now. This year the jury included Jan Callewaert (CEO Option and 'Onderneming van het Jaar 2005'), Hans Crijns (Professor Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School) and Mimi Lamote as new members.
