INCAT Deploys i.get.it Professional

Knowledge transfer tool will enhance clients’ collaboration and drive design process

Detroit, October 10, 2006 – INCAT® today announced the deployment of i.get.it® Professional from iKnowledge Solutions (iKS) throughout its global operations. This tool, the latest upgrade from i.get.it, is the industry-leading knowledge transfer solution and will strengthen the company’s ability to support its clients’ engineering and design (E&D), and product creation processes.

Key features of i.get.it Professional include an interface localized for multiple languages (currently English, German, French and Japanese), enhanced reporting features and user profile management that is simplified to make it both easier to use and more powerful.

“The INCAT Global Delivery Model for E&D requires a high level of collaboration with our clients,” said INCAT President Warren Harris. “Fundamental to this is the acquisition and application of knowledge assets in the form of best practices, core processes and real-world lessons learned.

“Our corporate-wide adoption of i.get.it Professional, with its expanded capability for flexible knowledge transfer and information sharing, enables INCAT to create and tap a virtual repository of engineering knowledge from our more than 2,000 professionals anytime, anywhere. This ready source of information sharing provides real value for our global clients who are under constant competitive pressure to improve quality and realize innovation, all the while reducing costs and time-to-market.”

Harris notes that adoption of i.get.it Professional followed careful assessment and evaluation to ensure that the tool will add value to INCAT operations as well as the operations of its client organizations worldwide. INCAT Engineering and Design Delivery Centers in North America, India, the U.K. and Thailand all will be leveraging i.get.it Professional as the corporate repository for E&D methods and best practices application.

Kevin Noe, president of iKS, said, “Over the past six years, we have helped thousands of companies deploy i.get.it as a cost-effective learning application. Today, we are keenly aware that the landscape is changing regarding how companies view and use engineering knowledge.”

Noe notes these three keys to how companies put knowledge to work in today’s market:
•        Companies are no longer interested in learning for learning’s sake. They expect that learning will be directly related to what they design and/or produce.
•        Companies increasingly expect that processes, methods and best practices will be imbedded in the learning process. The real value of learning is how it directly contributes to an engineer becoming more productive.
•        Companies increasingly leverage knowledge assets as a competitive advantage. The best-trained engineers more quickly and efficiently design products, driving that competitive advantage.

“With i.get.it, INCAT is deploying a flexible, cost-effective tool that will enable the distribution of engineering knowledge throughout its organization and will enable knowledge re-use as well,” said Noe. “This will enhance both the competitive advantage of INCAT and that of their clients. We’re very pleased with their selection of i.get.it as their global knowledge management delivery system.”
