Certeon's S-Series Accelerates Delivery Of Large CAD Files

BURLINGTON, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—October 10, 2006— Certeon, the first vendor to deliver secure acceleration from desktop to data center, today announced that Ideal Aerosmith, a leading supplier of aviation test equipment and premier provider of aerospace test engineering services, has chosen Certeon's S-Series(TM) Application Acceleration Appliances to accelerate the performance of CAD file delivery to its remote engineering and manufacturing sites. Certeon's S-Series has enabled Ideal Aerosmith to reduce the download and assembly times of these large design files by more than 80 percent.

Ideal Aerosmith's systems test inertial sensors and navigation and guidance systems, and provide dynamic motion simulation for missiles, aircraft, launch vehicles, UAVs, and automobiles. Ideal Aerosmith uses Solid Edge(R), powerful 3D CAD software from UGS, which includes insight - a built-in design management solution based on Microsoft(R) SharePoint(R) collaboration and Web-portal technologies. Certeon's S-Series enabled the company's three remote U.S. sites to share large 3D CAD files, averaging 150MB in size. Downloading and assembling these large files quickly was critical to their workflow, but the inherent wide area network (WAN) latency caused the access of these files to take 30 minutes or longer.

"Our network infrastructure could not keep up with the delivery of our large CAD files and it was greatly impacting our ability to share these files among all of our facilities," said Joel Brown, IT coordinator, Ideal Aerosmith. "Certeon's S-Series appliances saved us from having to invest in additional network bandwidth by greatly accelerating the performance of accessing these files over our existing network infrastructure."

Ideal Aerosmith deployed Certeon's S-Series appliances, with its unique Application Acceleration Blueprints(TM) for HTTP/S and Microsoft application traffic, at each site and immediately saw more than 80 percent improvement in the download times of its large CAD files. The S-Series, with Application Intelligent Networking(TM), significantly reduces the amount of HTTP/S traffic going over a WAN to dramatically accelerate application response times to remote sites. Certeon's Application Acceleration Blueprints mitigate WAN latency issues and deliver LAN-like performance to remote users.

"Ideal Aerosmith ran into the same WAN issues that a number of our enterprise customers encounter," stated Gareth Taube, vice president of marketing at Certeon. "The problems of low bandwidth and high network latency greatly reduce the effectiveness of sharing high-performance applications among branch sites over a WAN. Certeon's S-Series overcomes these issues to significantly accelerate the delivery of critical information to remote users."
