Former IBM Chief Scientist Joins Burton Group

SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Aug 07, 2006 -- Burton Group, an IT research firm focused on in-depth analysis of enterprise infrastructure technologies, announces it has hired industry-renowned information security and data privacy specialist Bob Blakley as principal analyst for its Identity and Privacy Strategies, and Security and Risk Management Strategies services.

Blakley has been involved in cryptography and information security design since 1979. Most notably, he was the editor of the OMG CORBA security specification, and is the author of "CORBA Security: An Introduction to Safe Computing with Objects," published by Addison-Wesley. He was also the editor of the Open Group's Authorization API specification and the OASIS Security Services Technical Committee's SAML specification effort.

Blakley is a respected speaker, advisor, and commentator on identity management and privacy. He has presented at numerous industry events, including Burton Group's Catalyst Conference.

"I am, of course, thrilled to no end that Bob has joined our team. I've known Bob for some 10 years or so, and he's spoken at Catalyst many times. I always find myself having a better understanding of something relating to identity, privacy, or security after hashing it out with Bob," said Jamie Lewis, Burton Group CEO and research chair.

Blakley has authored, or co-authored seven papers on cryptography, secret sharing schemes, access control, and other aspects of computer security. As principal analyst, Blakley will draw from his many years of information security and data privacy expertise to create practical research reports for Burton Group's clients.
