Haima Motor Adopts PTC Product Development System

NEEDHAM, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—July 31, 2006— PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the Product Development Company(TM), announced today that FAW Haima Motor Co. Ltd, a leading automobile manufacturer in China, has adopted the PTC Product Development System (PDS) to optimize collaboration with its partner, Mazda in Japan. Haima Motor's implementation of the PTC PDS includes Pro/ENGINEER(R), Windchill PDMLink(R) and Windchill ProjectLink(TM). Haima also utilized the expertise of PTC's global services team to optimize the PLM (product lifecycle management) solution for its expanding automotive business.

Haima Motor selected PTC's PDS because the company required a system to manage its product development processes, control data from Mazda Japan, and improve communication channels between the two companies. Haima Motor traditionally handled data from Mazda manually. This method proved to be slow, unreliable and led to miscommunication. As a result of these challenges, Haima Motor created a strategy to optimize key product development processes and replace manual data management methods.

"With its strengths in PLM and a proven track record in helping Chinese companies improve their product development processes, PTC's solutions have become essential in meeting our strategic goals," said Wu Song, PDM project manager, Haima Motor. "PTC has the most extensive and comprehensive global services support for us. Its solutions and services have significantly improved collaborative product development between Haima Motor and Mazda."

After a thorough evaluation of the leading PLM solution providers in the market, Haima Motor chose PTC. Haima Motor based their selection on PTC's ability to supply them with an end-to-end PLM solution that offers advanced capabilities and top-notch professional global services with the goal of optimizing their product development processes. Haima Motor uses Windchill PDMLink to manage product development data, and Windchill ProjectLink for collaboration with Mazda and its suppliers. Since implementing PTC solutions, errors caused by manual data management have been greatly reduced. PTC Windchill solutions are now used by Haima Motor employees in China and overseas.

"PTC's Product Development System is the industry's most powerful and flexible PLM solution. It allows customers to effectively optimize content and process management, and enhance collaboration throughout the value chain," said Dhiren Verma, director of automotive product and market strategy, PTC. "With the help of PTC solutions, Haima Motor is able to strengthen collaboration with Mazda and achieve their strategic goals while fueling their growth in the highly competitive automotive industry."
