"2006 marks another record-breaking year for the PTC/USER World Event," said Dan Glenn, president, PTC/USER. "This year's event provided an excellent opportunity for attendees who are directly responsible for implementing and using PTC products to have peer discussions on best practices, meet with industry experts, provide feedback to PTC product managers, and review solutions from members of the PTC Partner Advantage Program, the PTC Channel Advantage Program, and PTC/USER's Industry Partner Program."

PTC Awards 2006 Competition

The PTC Awards 2006 competition is an international forum for PTC customers to display successful product design achievements using PTC solutions. This year, Skoda Auto A.S. received the Design award for Best Overall entry for the design of an automotive manual gearbox using Pro/ENGINEER and Windchill. Using PTC solutions, Skoda was able to optimize variant data used to create assembly drawings ultimately reducing the time spent verifying changes of assembly drawings. Skoda was chosen from more than 100 entries submitted for the 2006 award.

"Our entry in the PTC Awards 2006 competition was a collaborative effort of a large group of engineers. With Pro/ENGINEER and Windchill, all users were working with the latest data ensuring the accuracy of our design. The numerous product variations were contained in just one top assembly, resulting in a 60% time savings," said Jan Vesecky, Skoda Auto.

"The participants of this year's PTC Awards 2006 competition once again exceeded expectations," said Mark Hodges, divisional vice president, customer support and operations, PTC and member of the PTC/USER Board of Directors. "Skoda's winning design demonstrates the powerful capabilities of software solutions from PTC and underscores the innovation and commitment to product excellence that characterizes the PTC/USER community."

An expert panel of judges, including individuals from several major engineering publications, participated in the judging for the PTC Awards competition. Decisions were based on the entries' comprehensive use of PTC solutions, creativity and technical merit. Submissions were also evaluated on the benefits each design or design process has provided to the entrant's company.
