Industrial Guide Reports Colorado Manufacturing Jobs Up 1%

EVANSTON, Ill., July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Colorado's industrial employment rose 1% over the past 12 months, according to the 2007 Colorado Manufacturers Directory, an industrial guide published annually by Manufacturers' News, Inc. (MNI), Evanston, IL. MNI reports Colorado has gained 3,596 jobs since June of 2005, indicating a slight reversal in the downturn the Centennial state has felt since 2001.

"Hopefully this indicates a slowing, if not a reversal of the loss of Colorado manufacturing jobs," said Tom Dubin, President of MNI. "Many of the industrial jobs that could be shipped overseas already have been."

According to Manufacturers' News, Colorado is now home to 7,411 manufacturing companies employing 219,140 workers, ranking it 2nd in the Mountain Plains region by number of manufacturing jobs and plants. MNI's survey profiles both large and small Colorado manufacturers, including start- up companies with just a few employees.

Denver remains Colorado's industrial leader with 1,594 companies and 51,815 jobs, according to the 2007 Register. Colorado Springs accounts for 579 companies and 20,920 jobs, while Boulder is home to 353 manufacturers and 9,673 jobs. These three cities represent 34% of the state's manufacturing plants and 37% of its industrial jobs.

According to the 2007 Directory, Colorado's top industrial sector is printing and publishing, which accounts for 1,057 companies or 14% of the state's industrial plants. The state's largest sector by employment is communications equipment, which accounts for 33,055 jobs.

Detailed information on all of Colorado's 7,411 companies can be found in the 2007 Colorado Manufacturers Directory, available in print for $99. The 688-page Directory provides an in-depth company profile of up to 30 facts, including addresses, phone/fax numbers, web/email addresses, product(s) manufactured, names and titles of key executives, area of distribution, annual sales, number of employees, brand names, year established and more.

MNI's Colorado data is also available on CD-ROM for $155 to $443. Users may select manufacturing companies using thirteen different criteria, including area or zip code, county, SIC, sales volume, number of employees, title and more. This information can be downloaded at http://www.mnileads.com .
