CERATIZIT Expands Use Of PTC Product Development System

NEEDHAM, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—July 11, 2006— PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the Product Development Company(TM), today announced that CERATIZIT (Luxemburg), a leading supplier of innovative hard material products and tools for the automotive, aerospace, railway and metal forming industries, has expanded its deployment of the PTC Product Development System to include Windchill PDMLink(TM) for data and process management and Windchill ProjectLink(TM) for collaboration and project management. Together with existing use of Pro/ENGINEER for product design, Windchill now enables CERATIZIT to improve internal and external project collaboration with their customers and distributed manufacturing sites as well as increase design reuse within its large product portfolio.

"The PTC Product Development System offered us the biggest potential to realize benefits such as seamless and effective collaboration with our key accounts as well as with our internal departments," said Jacques Lanners, Spokesman of the Executive Board of CERATIZIT group. "Having Windchill as our data management platform will also enable our R&D team to develop new products and technologies faster, to better cover existing markets and quickly address new markets."

The initial focus of the deployment is on linking Windchill PDMLink to SAP(R) to allow the seamless sharing of information. At the same time the company will optimize its methodology for digital model definition to help improve the productivity of its design engineers. Over time, CERATIZIT plans to extend the use of the Product Development System across geographic boundaries to other European offices.

CERATIZIT has been a PTC customer since 2001, when it standardized on Pro/ENGINEER as its CAD platform because of its ability work with data to manage old and new CAD data. "CERATIZIT's decision to expand its relationship with PTC and implement our Product Development System will support their strategic objectives of better addressing new markets," said Marc Diouane, Divisional Vice President Europe, PTC. "Even though the company is a global leader in the hard material business, it faces tough competition especially from the Asian markets. To maintain its leadership it needs to develop innovative high quality products and reduce product costs at the same time. PTC Product Development System will help CERATIZIT to maximize its productivity."

CERATIZIT develops, produces and sells innovative carbide grades and tooling systems for applications in the cutting tool sector and where high performance is required. CERATIZIT has Worldwide 12 production units in Europe, USA and Asia. The group is employing about 4,000 people in more than 20 countries.
