Cadence and Ericsson Agree to Expand Strategic Relationship

Complete Suite of Cadence Design Automation Solutions, Services and Training in Multi-Year Agreement will be Licensed by Ericsson

STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2002-- Cadence Design Systems Inc. (NYSE: CDN - news) today announced a major extension to its strategic licence agreement with Ericsson.

The multi-year agreement gives Ericsson, the world's leading telecommunications supplier, access to all Cadence® electronic design automation (EDA) software, services and training to support its design operations worldwide. Cadence has been a strategic supplier of Ericsson for more than a decade and the new agreement represents the latest in a running series of collaborations by the two companies with an expansion to use Cadence's entire portfolio.

"This extension of our valuable relationship with Ericsson demonstrates Cadence's pedigree as a world-class partner for electronic design," said Kevin Bushby, executive vice president, worldwide field operations at Cadence. "Highly integrated designs, such as those required by Ericsson, require the barriers to be broken down between embedded software, digital logic, analog circuit and printed circuit board design. This is exactly the functionality that our strategic collaboration with Ericsson will deliver."

Among the design technologies covered under the new agreement are synthesis place and route (SP&R), analog/RF design, logic verification, system level design, Quickturn® design verification systems and printed circuit board (PCB) design.
