P&G joins the roster of global 2000 companies that are selecting Enginuity to optimize product development in FDA regulated industries such as cosmetics, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs and consumer packaged goods (CPG).
Prior to entering into the license agreement with Enginuity, P&G evaluated the industry's leading product development software packages during an extremely thorough, multi-year selection process. The evaluation included surveys and focus groups with key users in multiple business categories across the company to fully understand their requirements for a product development tool. In addition, P&G conducted an extensive global pilot of the Enginuity software with system users throughout North America, Asia and Europe. The pilot exceeded all of its success measures in both system performance and user acceptance.
Michael Burkett, Vice President, AMR Research, and a leading expert in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), concluded in a just-released research alert that "Enginuity PLM has very deep domain experience in formula-based product development, particularly for health and beauty and over-the-counter (OTC) drug manufacturers. As process manufacturers look to streamline their product development process, Enginuity should be part of any evaluation short list."
In awarding the business to Enginuity PLM, P&G cited the product's out-of-the-box completeness, including the industry's most advanced product development/calculation engine, as a key factor. Enginuity's proven scalability in global deployments and proven 21 CFR Part 11 compliance, combined with its flexibility to meet the diverse needs of users across the global P&G enterprise -- spanning nine P&G Beauty Care and Health Care OTC business categories -- were also important factors in the selection.
"P&G is recognized throughout the world for its commitment to continuous innovation and breakthrough product design," said Paul Wallace, Associate Director of Product Development, Procter & Gamble. "By deploying Enginuity, we are giving formulators and process engineers throughout the organization more time to focus on product innovation by greatly reducing manual verification and documentation processes. Based on the resoundingly positive feedback from users in our global pilot, it is our expectation that Enginuity will allow us to quickly realize significant benefits in our product development processes."
Using Enginuity software, P&G researchers can now collaborate globally and easily share formulations and product knowledge across workgroups, regions and functions. The system increases efficiency by both eliminating redundant data entry and manual verification -- and enabling users to more easily create, model and modify formulas, specifications and recipes. By providing real-time raw material cost information, it allows cost-effective formulas to be developed from inception. It also improves P&G's global formulation knowledge base by creating a readily-searchable repository of all formulas and product knowledge -- allowing users to easily leverage past successes and avoid repeating past failed approaches.
The Enginuity software team was led by internationally renowned product development expert Dr. John P. Sottery, Enginuity CEO. The software encapsulates best practices based on decades of experience optimizing the product development process at global corporations in FDA regulated process industries. In addition to its product development capabilities, Enginuity supports ingredient labeling, product launch and generation of international product registration documents.
