Pathtrace Leads The Educational CAM Market

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pathtrace Leads the Educational Market

Southfield, MICHIGAN, July 2006 – The latest NC Software and Related Services Market Assessment V15 from the US market research company, CIMdata, establishes Pathtrace, the developer of EdgeCAM as the leading supplier in terms of seats shipped to the education market in 2005, with projections to continue this position in 2006. Over 6900 seats were installed in educational institutions in 2005 with double digit percentage growth expected in 2006.

Education is a key market for EdgeCAM, enabling a more diverse group of students to move from older CAM technology to the latest solids-based machining. Pathtrace has contributed to a number of initiatives for education, including Project Lead the Way. Project Lead the Way ( www.pltw.org) is a national program forming partnerships between educational institutions and the private sector to increase the quantity and quality of engineers and engineering technologists graduating in the United States. The programs are used by over 1300 schools in 45 states and the District of Columbia. Pathtrace has been the CAM partner to the PLTW program since 2004.

The United States is not the only country in which Pathtrace has a significant share of the educational market for CAM software. EdgeCAM can be found in hundreds of schools and colleges worldwide including the UK, Japan, Brazil, Costa Rica, Canada and Australia. To find a school in your area that is using EdgeCAM, please visit our education section on www.edgecam.com.

“In Pathtrace, as with Autodesk, Project Lead the Way has a partner which shares its vision and goals for pre-engineering education,” noted Tom White, Director of Technology. “The beneficiaries are the countless students in the PLTW network whose preparation for real world manufacturing engineering has been greatly enhanced.”

Commenting on the CIMdata report, Steve Sivitter, CEO, Pathtrace Systems, Inc. stated, “Education is an important market for EdgeCAM. Through our participation in initiatives such as PLTW, we are encouraging a new generation of engineers to develop their skills using full versions of our latest generation products. We are pleased that this has been recognized by our leadership in the Educational market for NC software.”
