(Old Town, Maine--10 April 2002) The Forestry Consulting Group at James W. Sewall Company is pleased to announce the addition of four new professional staff. Dr. Donald G. MacKay, Vaneska N. Litz, and Robert A. Clifford have joined the Maine firm to provide more comprehensive and specialized services in forestry appraisal and economics. To strengthen Sewall forestry services in the Southeast, GIS/GPS specialist Randy Myers will provide system development consulting and project management from Sewall's office in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
A Chartered Financial Analyst, Dr. MacKay brings to Sewall four years' experience as a timberland portfolio analyst for a major timberland investment management organization. His career also includes seven years in natural resource economics and policy research at the University of Minnesota. As a Resource Economist/Appraiser at Sewall, he will apply financial, statistical, and econometric analyses to evaluate investments and develop statistical models for forecasting timber prices.
With a specialty in applied economic research and analysis, Forest Analyst/Appraiser Vaneska Litz brings seven years' experience in community forestry development and forest management in both North America and Southeast Asia. With an M.S. in agricultural economics from Louisiana State University, Ms. Litz will support the Sewall appraisal team in data collection, data analysis, and economic modeling and will develop Sewall's nongovernmental organization (NGO) client base throughout the Northeast.
Resource Analyst/Appraiser Robert Clifford brings to Sewall experience in forest inventory and growth-and-yield modeling for industrial and non-industrial landowners and nonprofit organizations. With an M.S. in forestry from the University of Maine, Mr. Clifford will collect and analyze information for appraisal and forest economics projects and forest resource modeling efforts at Sewall.
Forestry Project Manager Randy Myers will contribute to the group 24 years' experience in GPS and GIS systems implementation and maintenance. During his tenure at two national paper companies, Mr. Myers designed, implemented, and maintained GIS and inventory databases for major tracts of forestland throughout the Southeast . He also supervised the corporate use of GPS hardware and software, providing training and technical support to field offices in a four-state area. Experienced in forest harvest modeling, covertype interpretation, and land management, he will supervise forestry GIS projects for Sewall clients in the Southeast.
