Si2 Announces Magma Design Automation Has Joined The OpenAccess Coalition

AUSTIN, Texas—(BUSINESS WIRE)—May 1, 2006— The Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) today announced that Magma Design Automation has joined Si2 and is the newest Director-level OpenAccess Coalition member. Since the keynote address by Magma CEO Rajeev Madhavan at the 8th OpenAccess+ Conference held at Sun Microsystems in mid-April, Magma has followed up on its goal of encouraging interoperability where it makes sense with key partners.

"Si2 is very pleased that Magma has elected to join Si2 and the OpenAccess Coalition at the Director level," says Steve Schulz, president and CEO of Si2. "We have been working with Magma on OpenAccess adoption for some time now, and we look forward to working even more closely with them in the future. With active support from all leading EDA vendors, there can be no question about the importance and relevance of OpenAccess to the semiconductor industry."

As a Director-level member, Magma will have the opportunity to directly influence the future evolution of the OpenAccess Standard API. "We welcome Magma's participation, along with Cadence Design Systems, Synopsys, and Mentor Graphics in the OpenAccess Coalition," says Scott Peterson of LSI Logic, the Chairman of the OpenAccess Coalition. "With input from the leading EDA vendors, OpenAccess will continue to be the design platform for future IC challenges."

About the OpenAccess Standard and Si2

The OpenAccess Coalition is a community-driven initiative formed to enable the creation of tightly integrated flows involving best-in-class commercial and proprietary tools and intellectual property (IP), necessary to support design of today's complex chips. This is done through an open-standard data-access interface (API) and reference database implementation supporting that API. Leading electronics companies with significant investment in CAD tools and infrastructure, as well as many commercial electronic-design automation (EDA) tool providers, have embraced the OpenAccess initiative as a means to support rapid product development. The OpenAccess Coalition operates under the governance and bylaws of Si2.

Si2 is an organization of industry-leading semiconductor, systems, EDA and manufacturing companies focused on improving the way integrated circuits are designed and manufactured in order to speed time-to-market, reduce costs, and meet the challenges of sub-micron design. Si2 is uniquely positioned to enable collaboration through a strong implementation focus driven by its member companies. Si2 focuses on developing practical technology solutions to industry challenges. Si2 represents over 95 companies involved in all parts of the silicon supply chain throughout the world.
