CD-adapco To Unveil New Vehicle Aerodynamic Simulation Technology At SAE World Congress

CD-adapco, the leading provider of Computational Fluid Dynamics technology to the automotive industry, will be unveiling STAR-CCM+ V2 at this year's SAE World Congress (April 3-6 at the Cobo Center Detroit). Aerodynamic simulation is now a routine part of automotive design. Once regarded as a high-end application, CFD simulation is now used at every stage of a vehicle design from earliest concept to post-production modification. As the value of CFD in the automotive industry has increased, its users have become more demanding, requiring (among other things) automatic geometry repair, fine mesh control, repeatability of calculation and rapid turn-around times.

STAR-CCM+ V2 was specifically designed to meet these challenges. Following the “from the ground up” philosophy that was the inspiration behind its original development, the mesh generation technology at the heart of the latest release of STAR-CCM+ has been designed to provide a single integrated process for automotive aerodynamic analysis. STAR-CCM+ now represents the most automatic and complete aerodynamics modeling package on the market. Users can run efficient steady-state calculations, as well as transient analyses, and STAR-CCM+ V2 is equipped with CD-adapco’s tried, tested and trusted underhood modeling solution for running coupled aero-underhood calculations.

From importing the surface geometry to post-processing the final result, STAR-CCM+ V2 includes all of the necessary tools inside a single package. The resulting process is more robust, more powerful and more automatic than ever.
