Adept Technology Introduces AdeptSight Guidance For Material Handling And Assembly Robots

PARIS—(BUSINESS WIRE)—March 28, 2006— Adept Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADEP), the leading provider of intelligent vision-guided robotics and global robotics services, today introduced AdeptSight(TM) Guidance, an open, PC-based product for Robot Vision Guidance on all Adept robot systems and networks. AdeptSight Guidance integrates the high performance Hexsight geometric object location tool for parts recognition with an extensive set of vision inspection and recognition tools.

"Our manufacturing process requires a combination of accurate quality assurance and high speed packaging," said Svend Lycke, General Manager at ITW Construction Products in Denmark. "The Adept system, consisting of AdeptSight and Adept's s600 Cobra robots, provided by our integrator Image House A/S, is the best and most cost effective solution for our needs."

"By allowing part recognition and inspection tasks to be performed in conjunction with robot guidance, AdeptSight Guidance allows material handling and assembly cost savings with performance gains," said Gordon Deans, Vice-President and General Manager, Adept Vision Products. "The vision sequence configuration and robot-to-vision calibration is achieved using a simple point-and-click tool with easy-to-follow wizards."

AdeptSight Guidance runs on commercial PCs with Microsoft(R) Windows(R) and comes complete with all the necessary hardware including camera, lens and accessories. AdeptSight is an easy-to-use, standalone vision guidance package. Incorporated into the Adept DeskTop(TM) development environment, it integrates vision guidance with the complete line-up of Adept Cobra SCARA, Adept Viper 6-axis and Adept Python linear robots.
