Cosmic Blobs Announces Education Version Of 3D Graphics Software

ORLANDO, Fla.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—March 22, 2006— Dassault Systemes (NASDAQ: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) today announced a special version of its Cosmic Blobs(R) 3D graphics software for kids that schools can easily implement into study groups, classrooms and computer labs across school facilities and school systems. The company publicly announced the new product, called Cosmic Blobs Lab Pack, today at the Florida Educational Technology Conference being held in Orlando, FL.

Cosmic Blobs, the most powerful 3D graphics software for kids ever invented, has become wildly popular among children seven to 14 looking for creative fun. This has been especially true in the academic market where schools and child development programs worldwide have incorporated Cosmic Blobs as a core learning resource. In answer to the demand from this growing market for a network version of the software, the makers of Cosmic Blobs have developed the Lab Pack version to accommodate the needs of administrators for easy technology implementation and support.

"We believe learning should be fun, and while Cosmic Blobs started life outside the classroom, it has become central to a valuable, progressive education experience," said Steven DeBenedictis, product manager for Cosmic Blobs. "The Lab Pack is specially designed with school IT administrators in mind, and it will be remarkably easy to install, administer and manage licenses on the classroom, grade or school-wide level." The Cosmic Blobs Lab Pack is scheduled to begin shipping in April.

Dassault Systemes is also announcing the launch of a new dedicated Web site for educators, the Cosmic Blobs Education Resource Center. Located at http://edu.cosmicblobs.com, it features curricula developed in cooperation with a wide range of educators, including education graduates of Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., and members of the Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) Program. The teaching materials demonstrate how this award-winning software can be a powerful vehicle for teaching important subjects like astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, entomology and geometry. To promote the adoption of Cosmic Blobs into schools, these educators have been engaged to create materials such as lesson plans, units and teacher's guides that help their peers use Cosmic Blobs effectively in the classroom.

Cosmic Blobs Announces Education Version -

"Cosmic Blobs is one of the most powerful tools for content creation and presentation since crayons and markers gave way to the PC," said Cobb County (Ga.) School District middle school science teacher Linda Trawick, who has already developed several Cosmic Blobs lessons. "Cosmic Blobs has powerful applications in science and math, and its engineering pedigree makes it essential for any student interested in what makes things tick."

The curricula offered on the Cosmic Blobs Education Resource Center is designed to meet state and Federal standards, including those of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). Cosmic Blobs has instituted its "Professor Program" inviting educators to compose lesson plans for distribution to the academic community. Future features of the Web site will include an online forum where teachers can share their tips, tricks and teaching experiences.

Cosmic Blobs runs on Windows and Apple computers, and Cosmic Blobs Lab Pack will be available at special pricing for schools through resellers. It includes administrator-friendly client management and concurrent-usage license features. To find a reseller nearby, visit edu.cosmicblobs.com.
