PTC Unveils Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 Schools Edition

Industry-Leading Integrated CAD/CAM/CAE Software Fosters Technological Literacy in Middle And High School Students

NEEDHAM, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—March 21, 2006— PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the Product Development Company(TM), announced today that it will make generally available the new Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 Schools Edition at the upcoming International Technology Education Association (ITEA) conference in Baltimore, MD - March 23-25, 2006. Pro/ENGINEER is an integrated CAD/CAM/CAE solution that helps companies develop detailed, intuitive and realistic digital product representations (see related press release issued March 7, 2006). Continuing PTC's commitment to education, this new schools edition will be made available to participating classrooms free of charge through the PTC Design & Technology in Schools Program.

The PTC Design & Technology in Schools Program, developed specifically for secondary schools, is the number one design education program for middle and high schools. The program provides affordable training classes for technology teachers to become certified in the use of PTC software. Upon certification, teachers will be entitled to free seats of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 Schools Edition for classroom and student home use. In addition to the software, teachers will also receive free project-based activities and classroom materials. The Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 Schools Edition provides secondary school students with the opportunity to use the same industry-leading software used by colleges, universities and professional engineers.

Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 Schools Edition strengthens PTC's commitment to education and builds on the success of the Pro/DESKTOP Design and Technology in Schools Program. While Pro/DESKTOP provided a range of design and modeling functionality, Pro/ENGINEER provides significantly more depth, allowing the creation of more complex and realistic designs. Training for this new edition will be offered beginning in the summer of 2006, with the first five workshops being hosted by PTC at various locations around North America.

"PTC's products have proved invaluable to the students in the Newburyport School System. With the easy learning curve of Pro/DESKTOP and Pro/ENGINEER, students are able to quickly translate their design ideas into 3D models," said Steve Smith, educator and technology coordinator, Newburyport School System. "Many of the engineering colleges and universities to which our students are applying use Pro/ENGINEER in their engineering programs. Our students are able to enter college with the advantage of having had previous experience with Pro/ENGINEER. This experience has caught the attention of many institutions of higher education and industries."

"The PTC Design & Technology in Schools Program has been very effective in promoting technological literacy among students and in helping them to develop communication, collaboration and problem solving skills," said PTC's John Stuart, senior vice president global partners and education. "Pro/ENGINEER is used in over 1,200 universities around the world, including 46 of the top 50 mechanical engineering universities in the United States, as ranked by US News and World Report. The new Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 Schools Edition will enable students to develop expertise with the same software in use at these universities and by industry engineers and product designers worldwide, a real asset to companies seeking skilled technical resources."
