Boeing Selects Marotta's Pneumatic Weapon Ejection System

MONTVILLE, N.J., March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Marotta Controls announced today that The Boeing Company has selected its new M-PACT(TM), Pure Air Compression Technology, for pneumatic weapon ejection. The M-PACT(TM) will make its debut on-board the P-8A Multi-Mission Maritime Aircraft (MMA). A variant of the Boeing 737-800, the P-8A MMA is under development for the United States Navy to provide persistent anti-submarine warfare, as well as anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

Marotta's M-PACT(TM) will supply the high-pressure compressed air to jettison the weapons from each weapon station. M-PACT(TM) is a complete pneumatic system comprised of three main components: a valve manifold and accumulator assembly; a miniature compressor employing a single-head on the wing pylons and a double-head for the fuselage; and an electronic controller designed by Marotta for this specific high-pressure pure air generating application.

"Marotta is delighted to be selected by Boeing for this mission critical role on the P-8A MMA program," said Michael Leahan, Vice President and Chief Sales Officer of Marotta. "We have been working closely with our partners and suppliers for more than two and a half years to develop the M-PACT(TM) and bring it to market. With over 66 years experience in high-pressure fluid controls, gaining a foothold in pneumatic weapon ejection was a natural progression for our business. The M-PACT(TM) series supports a wide range of high-pressure pure air generators for various applications, which include infra-red missile seeker cooling as well as pneumatic weapon ejection. Marotta will continue to invest in and enhance its product technology to ensure that it remains at the forefront in meeting future aerospace and defense requirements."
