The company, which today works with VAR organizations in Western Europe, North America and Japan, is expanding its indirect sales network into these growth regions. Davis will be responsible for recruiting, training and supporting these new think3 VAR teams.
"Tom knows our solutions and services inside and out, and is the perfect fit for this new role within the company," said Craig Lewis, Vice President of Worldwide Sales at think3. "Working extensively with VARs within this industry for years, he has the leadership experience to ensure we have the right partners to ramp up quickly in these new markets."
With nearly 10 years of experience, Davis worked at PTC and MRO Software before joining think3. He holds a joint degree from the University of Brighton (UK) and the Politecnico di Torino (Italy) in European Business and Industrial Production.
VARs Successfully Penetrate International Markets
The use of VARs within the CAD/CAM industry continues to increase, according to a 2005 CIMdata report, with more than 43% of total sales being driven through resellers in 2004. In particular, CIMdata reports that vendors are using resellers in international markets such as Asia Pacific, as local representation with fluency in the local language and knowledge of customers is particularly important.
"The VAR potential in these markets is huge," said Davis. "We're seeing an incredible response in the last couple of months as we recruit new and qualified partners because the technology, in addition to being ideally suited for small and mid-sized businesses, is easy to install, learn and maintain." Malaysia, India and Korea represent the new territories where VARs have been added.
