Taney County, Missouri Selling GIS Data (Branson Daily News)

February 8, 2008 -- The Taney County Commission approved a price list Monday for the sale of geographic information systems, or GIS, maps and digital data from the information systems department.

Gary Morgan, information systems administrator, said charging for the maps, which come on CDs or DVDs, is a way for the county to “recoup some of its losses.”

“This isn't a money-making endeavor by any means,” Morgan said. “We're just trying to make back some of the money the county spends to keep these maps updated.”
