AMI Semiconductor Enhances Mixed-Signal Offering with Image Sensor Technology; Integration of Peripheral Imaging Corporation Provides Leading CMOS Imaging Design and Manufacturing Expertise

POCATELLO, Idaho—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Jan. 30, 2006— AMI Semiconductor (Nasdaq: AMIS), a designer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art integrated mixed-signal and structured digital products for the automotive, medical and industrial markets, announced that it has expanded its technology offering and become a leader in CMOS-based linear contact image sensor technology, providing unparalleled design and product expertise for the development of robust standard and custom products in the computer, consumer and industrial markets.

The integration of Peripheral Imaging Corporation (PIC), which was included in the acquisition of the semiconductor business unit of Flextronics, was the key factor in making this transition possible. AMIS now offers state-of-the-art image sensor designs for use in printers, scanners, ambient light sensors, optical mouse, finger print sensors, and other similar applications.

"We are confident that the electronic imaging market will continue to expand over the next few years and AMIS is in a prime position to take advantage of that growth," said Jon Stoner, CTO of AMIS. "The integration of PIC provides AMIS with an engineering team that offers a unique approach to CMOS imaging design and manufacturing, stemming from the company's inherent flexibility to adapt to any custom design change, which is a critical factor in this dynamic market."

AMI Semiconductor's complete line of standard imaging products includes contact image sensor (CIS) chips and modules and self-scanned, linear photodiode arrays (PDAs). The CIS chips feature 200 -1200-dpi resolution. AMI Semiconductor's integrated CIS modules contain the light source, focusing optics, detector array, and the necessary electronics for outputting a simple to use video signal -- all packaged in a compact opto-mechanical assembly designed for high volume OEM scanning applications. The company's PDA family employs a proprietary CMOS image sensing technology to integrate the sensors into a single monolithic chip. Please visit http://www.amis.com for details.
