MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Group Selects Winternals Software To Optimize Windows Server Performance

AUSTIN, Texas—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Dec. 7, 2005— Winternals(R) Software, a leading provider of Microsoft systems recovery and data protection solutions, today announced that the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Group has chosen Winternals Defrag Manager(R) as its enterprise Windows defragmentation solution. The purchase was made through PC Ware Information Technologies GmBH, a Select partner in the Winternals Edge(TM) channel program.

MAN Nutzfahrzeuge, the largest company in the MAN Group, generated a turnover of EUR 7.4 billion in 2004. The company is a leading manufacturer of commercial trucks, heavy-duty special-purpose vehicles, buses, coaches, and diesel and natural-gas engines. MAN Nutzfahrzeuge is based in Munich and has seven production locations in Germany, with additional facilities in Austria, Poland, and Turkey.

"Winternals, as a provider of system and data backup software for Microsoft systems, serves the special requirements of a variety of customers," said Markus Kirchner, Business Unit Manager Software Sales & Licensing at PC-Ware AG. "In this sense, Winternals -- as a relatively young partner of PC-Ware -- completes our software portfolio in the European market. This year, PC-Ware could convince not only MAN Nutzfahrzeuge but also different hospitals, public services institutions and large IT service providers of the software's great value."

Defrag Manager is being deployed on Windows servers throughout the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge enterprise to improve application and system performance and to extend hardware life.

"Winternals launched a partner program earlier this year and our European revenue has increased steadily as a result of new channel sales," said Edwin Brasch, president and CEO of Winternals. "However, we have only tapped a fraction of the European Windows enterprise market. The MAN Nutzfahrzeuge deal is indicative of the potential for Winternals solutions in this region. Winternals will continue to actively recruit qualified channel partners in Germany and throughout Europe."

Defrag Manager remotely defragments Windows computers network-wide from a single console, without requiring any manual installations or continuously running services on client systems. All defragmentation tasks are controlled from one PC -- regardless of the number of computers in the network or their physical locations. Defragmentation can be scheduled for a single PC, a group of computers, an Active Directory Organizational Unit, or an entire domain with a single drag-and-drop. With features such as support for 64-bit systems, Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 integration, and Active Directory support, Defrag Manager is designed to provide advanced management capabilities even as the Windows enterprise evolves in the future.

The Winternals Edge program makes all three of the company's product lines, including Recovery Manager(R) and Administrator's Pak(TM) in addition to Defrag Manager, available for sale through the channel. The tiered program is aimed at resellers around the world with Windows system recovery/storage management specializations in both the enterprise and SMB markets.
