(Westminster, CA; www.NENastran.com) a leader in Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software today announced NEiNastran V9.0 will contain a fully automated interface to handle surface contact and weld element generation in assembly models. Previously users were required to specify which surfaces were in contact which could be time consuming for models with many contact surfaces. V9.0 adds a single command interface to simply specify the type of contact (general, welded, bi-directional sliding, or rough).

Automating this process will save users hours of model preparation time especially for complex assemblies with many parts in contact. The user will simply mesh the individual parts or the entire assembly as a single process and NEiNastran V9.0 will do the rest. Welded contact allows users to move parts around in their model without having to redefine anything which is ideal for optimization of designs.”
