speak4CAD Voice Recognition Software Doubles The Pace Of CAD

November 1, 2005 -- Atlanta, GA--Enact Technology, LLC has announced the release of its speak4CAD recognition software, the first software product that dramatically improves AutoCAD® productivity. There are over 3 million AutoCAD users worldwide making it the dominant CAD software. During speak4CAD’s beta-user tests, productivity was measured by comparing manual drawings to those created by spoken drawing commands and dimensions. Bruce Swan, Enact Technology Senior Partner says, “We are extremely pleased at the reception speak4CAD software is receiving. One of our beta-test users, Architect Fernando Andrade’s response is typical of what we’re hearing from everyone now using our product. He says that speak4CAD has entirely changed the way he uses AutoCAD because it enables him to focus on drawing instead of the keyboard--a more natural way to work.”

Spoken Commands Automate CAD and Open Doors for Disabled

AutoCAD users, especially those with physical limitations, are well aware that graphic applications can be particularly difficult since the user is forced to have one hand on the mouse and the other on the keyboard. Although graphic application speed can be improved with typed command shortcuts, an AutoCAD user still has to keep one hand on the mouse. Even the fastest touch-typists look down at their keyboards when typing left-handed. Speak4CAD resolves this conflict by voice activating commands and numbers based on spoken direction given simultaneously with mouse moves. Swan explained that this is where productivity gains are achieved. A USB digital headset is required with speak4CAD. “Considering the widespread adoption of computer headsets being used for VoIP and game applications, our entry into this market couldn’t be better timed,” Swan said.

Limited Command Recognition Grammar Means Speed and Accuracy

Speech applications based on a specific command grammar are considerably faster and more accurate than dictation versions that must search an entire language lexicon to find a word match. For this reason, Enact Technology designed and wrote speak4CAD with an AutoCAD command grammar. This permits an instant response to a spoken command. Enact Technology has also developed a number recognition grammar which eliminates the need for users to type in difficult numerical expressions. Speak4CAD software is Windows® NET® based and does not alter the AutoCAD installation.

Availability and Pricing

Speak4CAD is being offered on the www.speak4cad.com website at an introductory price of $99.95—a 33% savings from the $149.95 retail price. Video demonstrations of the software may be viewed at the web site.

Enact Technology, LLC develops software applications that enable other applications to be operated via speech recognition. The corporation plans to release additional speech command software that will drive other graphic applications in the very near future. In addition, Enact Technology plans to release products for other AutoCAD verticals as well as foreign language versions. Enact Technology also offers consulting services for product managers and IT professionals.
