The MathWorks Aerospace Blockset 2 With New Flight Simulator Interface For Desktop Modeling, Simulation, And Visualization

Start, "The Voice of The Manufacturing Executive", named SolidWorks Corp. one of the "Hottest Companies of 2005." SolidWorks has won this award four times in five years. Start's Hottest Companies award recognizes technology vendors that have developed important innovations that benefit the manufacturing industry. Editors also consider a company's value proposition, growth record, and differentiation.

MatrixOne Introduces New PLM Environment For Synchronous Workgroup Collaboration
MatrixOne Inc. announced the availability of MatrixOne Designer Central, a comprehensive workgroup design application that allows product designers and their extended supply chains to manage the design process and collaborate from one central application, regardless of the design tools they are using. MatrixOne Designer Central eliminates the need to support multiple CAD workgroup data managers. MatrixOne Designer Central allows users to create workspaces for simple ad hoc collaboration between project team members. Through its unique and open architecture, the new MatrixOne Designer Central application can be deployed and supported from a central location, while the file locations can be distributed and synchronized anywhere. From their native electrical or mechanical design applications, designers can access product design information that is vaulted in MatrixOne PLM, and, with local workspace management on their own desktop, users can compare work-in-progress to the master designs in MatrixOne.

Alibre And Amada Form Strategic Partnership To Bring 3D To The Sheet Metal Fabrication Industry
Alibre Inc. and Amada Company Ltd. have entered into a multi-year relationship to deliver 3D parametric modeling solutions optimized to meet the needs of the sheet metal fabrication industry, with new products planned for release later this year. The new products will be bundled with Amada's sheet metal machinery and provide modeling features that map directly to the machines' fabrication processes. Alibre and Amada expect that the primary beneficiaries of their 3D-based solutions will be the majority of sheet metal fabricators who currently use 2D almost exclusively. According to the two companies, while many popular solid modeling vendors have offered sheet metal design features for years, virtually all of them rely on simplistic unfolding algorithms that do not reflect the true capabilities of the machine tool. As a result, sheet metal fabricators typically redesign 3D models in 2D to allow them to develop the correct flat patterns that enable the most efficient fabrication of the part. This widespread regeneration of data leads to inefficiencies in the product development process, resulting in production delays, decreased quality and increased cost as errors are inadvertently introduced.
