MSC.Software Releases MSC.Marc 2005 r2

New Release Highlighted by Improved Robustness and Boost in Performance for Nonlinear Modeling and Analysis of Real-Life Models

SANTA ANA, Calif., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MSC.Software Corp. (OTC: MNSC), the leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD) solutions including simulation software and services today announced the release of MSC.Marc 2005 r2. MSC.Marc is part of the MSC.Software SimOffice product line and is an advanced, general-purpose nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) product for simulating a wide range of engineering applications and manufacturing processes.

"This release demonstrates our sustained commitment to being a customer and market driven solutions provider devoted to open standards," said Reza Sadeghi, vice president, solvers development, MSC.Software. "We continue improving MSC.Marc's effectiveness in performing advanced modeling to simulate real-world behavior. The development of automated and high-performance features built upon the open architecture of MSC.Marc enables us to offer versatile solutions that help users minimize design risk and maximize their productivity. We look forward to continuing to deliver significant enhancements that will improve our customers' product development processes."

Recognized as the world's first commercial nonlinear FEA software, MSC.Marc has, since 1971, continually delivered innovative and easy-to-use solutions that address the need for simulating static and dynamic structural, thermal, and other coupled physics problems. This new release continues MSC.Software's customer and market driven strategy to deliver product enhancements in-line with industry demands that improve customers' product development processes. MSC.Marc 2005 r2 has a number of significant enhancements and improvements in capacity and performance aimed at better enabling customers to perform real-world analyses. Some of these enhancements include:

     * Substantial improvements in MSC.Marc's ability to efficiently simulate
real-life scenarios by accommodating up to a 300% increase in the
degrees of freedom (DOF) specified for FEA models running on all
supported platforms. The optimization in memory utilization will
enable customers to solve larger, more complex problems with greater
        precision.

     * Enhancements to speed up contact analyses involving a large number of
multi-point constraint equations (deformable contact) and/or kinematic
constraint equations (rigid contact) with a reduction of up to 70% in
        CPU time.

     * New capability to handle beam and shell offsets, which eases geometric
modeling by allowing beams and shells to be conveniently specified at
a geometric location other than the actual physical location.

     * Numerous quality enhancements for existing features that better enable
        customers to perform real-world analyses.
