Maxwell Technologies' Microelectronics Unit Earns AS9100 Aerospace Quality Assurance Certification

Company Continues Multi-Disciplinary Initiatives for Organizational Excellence

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Maxwell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MXWL) announced today that its Microelectronics unit has been certified to the stringent AS9100 quality assurance standard for suppliers to the aerospace industry.

AS9100 is an international aerospace standard governed by the International Aerospace Quality Group, which is composed of three primary regional entities, the Americas Aerospace Quality Group, the European Aerospace Quality Group and the Asia Pacific Aerospace Quality Group. This certification was granted after an extensive audit of Maxwell's Microelectronics unit verified that it meets aerospace industry-specific quality assurance standards for design, development, production, installation and servicing.

Michael Everett, Maxwell's Vice President, Technology Systems, said that the company is committed to continuous quality improvement across all of its product lines, and has created an internal quality infrastructure and culture that facilitate compliance with the requirements of such certification activities.
