National Center For Defense Manufacturing And Machining Awarded $24.3M Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity Contract

FREEPORT, Pa., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Congressman John P. Murtha joined Mark F. Huston today to announce at the annual ARMTECH Showcase of Commerce and Industry that the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) has been awarded a $24.3M Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. The five-year contract will be administered by the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command's (RDECOM) Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) and the Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) Division. The contract will enable the Department of Defense (DoD) and other government organizations to utilize the manufacturing expertise of the NCDMM.

In announcing the award, NCDMM Executive Director Mark Huston stated, "Through various initiatives for the development and deployment of advanced machining and manufacturing techniques, the NCDMM has been helping DoD organizations keep pace with the rapid progression of advanced material applications in modern defense systems. By serving as a manufacturing technology resource that identifies, develops and transfers solutions to stakeholders nationwide, the NCDMM supports the DoD's ongoing transition to more cost-effective, sustainable and maintainable technologies and processes."

The NCDMM was established through the efforts of Congressman Murtha in 2003. Since it began, the NCDMM has helped more than 20 organizations significantly increase their manufacturing productivity. Congressman Murtha stated, "The NCDMM has quickly demonstrated its value to the Department of Defense by delivering practical solutions to both government agencies and suppliers."
