            presentations and exhibit industry leading software tools
            for aerospace engineering applications at the AIAA

Where/When: The conferences are scheduled to be held at the
            Hyatt Regency San Francisco at Embarcadero Center in San
            Francisco, California from August 15 to 18, 2005.

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) jointly held Guidance, Navigation, and Control; Modeling and Simulation Technologies; and Atmospheric Flight Mechanics Conferences and Exhibits provide a forum for the aerospace industry's most prominent scientists and engineers to gather and discuss the latest technology advancements for designing, developing, testing, constructing, and operating air and space vehicles and systems.

As part of this year's event, The MathWorks will deliver the following four technical presentations at the Modeling and Simulation Technologies Conference:

-- Monday, August 15 at 9:30 am PDT, Dr. Pieter J. Mosterman will present a paper titled, "Requirements Based Testing in Aircraft Control Design."

In Session 16-MST-2, Simulation Requirements, Standards and Reuse I, Pieter will discuss the use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Software with Model-Based Design to develop a fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) application for a redundant actuator control system.

-- Monday, August 15 at 10:30 am PDT, Paul Barnard will discuss "Software Development Principles Applied to Graphical Model Development."

Paul's presentation will also be part of Session 16-MST-2 Simulation Requirements, Standards and Reuse I. He will detail the use of software tools for creating high-fidelity simulations that can deliver simulation results quickly and efficiently. Specifically, Paul will highlight the ways in Model-Based Design has delivered process improvements for both flight simulation development, as well as for embedded software development.

-- Tuesday, August 16 at 4:00 pm PDT, Tom Erkkinen will deliver a presentation titled "Model Style Guidelines for Flight Code Generation."

In Session 73-MST-13 Simulation Requirements, Standards and Reuse II, Tom will describe model style guidelines and best practices for the automatic generation of flight code that is optimized for efficiency, traceability, and clarity. Although the focus is on flight code generation, developers using Model-Based Design with automatic code generation for other applications such as real-time simulation, rapid prototyping, and hardware-in-the-loop testing will benefit from the guidelines provided.

-- Wednesday, August 17 at 9:30 am PDT, Terry Denery will deliver the presentation "Multi-Domain Modeling of the Dynamics of a Hovercraft for Controller Development."

As part of Session 88-MST-14, Engineering Simulators Uses and Techniques III, Terry will discuss the modeling and simulation of a hovercraft vehicle for the purposes of developing a vehicular motion control system. To illustrate, a multi-domain modeling approach is applied through the use of The MathWorks product Simulink, and includes the full powertrain system, a rack-and-pinion steering system, ground effects and electric power generation.
