Altair Engineering and Desktop Engineering Magazine Partner to Promote Optimization Technology Conference

TROY, Mich., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Altair Engineering, Inc., a global leader in innovative product development, advanced engineering software and grid computing technology, today announced that it has joined with Desktop Engineering(R) (DE) magazine to promote Altair's Third Annual Optimization Technology Conference (OTC05), to be held Sept. 27, 2005, in Troy, Mich. The exclusive media sponsorship will further expand the awareness and attendance to this growing design strategies conference, while exposing Desktop Engineering magazine subscribers to a valuable technology resource for advanced product development.

DE reaches 63,000 high-level design engineers and engineering managers involved in collaborative design for manufacturing applications. DE's subscribers work in Fortune 1000 OEMs and SMB manufacturers. Altair's OTC05 will bring together more than 300 engineering professionals, and focuses on product innovation and development. Keynote speaker for the conference is Thomas J. Lange, director of Corporate R&D for Procter & Gamble.

"The year-over-year growth and success of this conference has exceeded our expectations," said Michael J. Kidder, Altair vice president of Marketing. "This year's larger venue and media partnership with DE will provide broader industry awareness and education regarding the role of optimization in product design. DE shares the same client demographics and enthusiasm for optimization technology and its positive impact in developing innovative products. We hope that this is just the beginning of a strong, ongoing relationship with this well-respected publication."

"Promoting optimization technology is a natural extension of DE's editorial mission," said Brian Vaillancourt, publisher. "This conference draws both those who are new to computer-aided engineering (CAE) optimization software tools and those who are using them successfully. Partnering with Altair to sponsor OTC05 helps us reach both of those target audiences and expand their awareness of the magazine as a valuable technical resource."

The all-day conference will include technical presentations by optimization thought leaders on real-world applications and the significance of optimization technologies in a simulation-based product design and development process. It will also include demonstrations on designing products for robustness, reliability and performance. The following day, Altair will offer an optimization training seminar to OTC05 attendees, based on limited availability.
