OpenDXM Offers Greater Ease Of Use And Flexibility

Darmstadt, May 2005 – The new Version 5.1 of the engineering data workflow solution OpenDXM(R) again provides a significant increase with regard to ease of use and the degree of flexibility it offers. PROSTEP AG recently commenced delivery of the software to its customers. The Darmstadt-headquartered product data integration specialists have incorporated numerous customer requirements in their further development of the data exchange solution with the implementation of a number of new functions. In addition, optional extensions such as an OpenDXM(R) archive server extension, an eMatrix integration package and a HyperKVS extension are also available. Additional direct integration packages for CAD and PDM/TDM systems such as, for example, a CATIA V5 direct integration package and a SmarTeam integration package are currently being developed.

The new and enhanced functions provided by OpenDXM(R)not only make life easier for users but also for system administrators. Users can now take advantage of an extended display function that allows important detailed information regarding prepared import jobs to be displayed and provides various filter options. The job search function integrated in the Web Client makes compiling job information child’s play. A summary button in the job list allows all of the most important job details to be displayed simultaneously, and the flexible concept for assigning rights and roles allows user groups to be defined. Depending on how the user rights have been assigned, the members of a user group can view the jobs belonging to other members in the group and, if appropriate, also control the jobs.

New features of interest to system administrators include the OpenDXM(R) Maintenance Panel, which can be used to display information on the maintenance work being performed. The OpenDXM(R) Control Center can now also be used via a http connection. In addition, system administrators have the additional password administration options and more flexible options for configuring automatic import operations performed using PRIM40.
