Eigner Selected For Its Leading CAD Integration, Document Management And Workflow Capabilities
WALTHAM, MA and STUTENSEE, GERMANY -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- 01/29/2002 -- Eigner, a leading developer of precision product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, and Dr. Maier CSS, a leading PLM consultancy and Eigner business partner, today announced that SEW-EURODRIVE GmbH, a worldwide leader in drive technology, has implemented a PLM solution based on Eigner technology.
With over 8,000 employees and annual revenues of nearly one billion euros, SEW-EURODRIVE is one of the world's leading producers of geared motors, inverters and controls. SEW's electronically controlled drives are used in many applications such as materials handling and process technology; beverage production; the manufacturing of wood, plastic, paper and textile products; logistics and transport.
As part of an initiative to increase the efficiency of the product development process, SEW-EURODRIVE required a PLM solution that could handle the company's large volume of engineering documents for better release management. Additionally, SEW needed tight integration between its PLM solution and its ECAD (Cadence) and MCAD (SolidWorks) implementations and its SER ITA archive system.
"SEW-EURODRIVE's success is a direct result of our focus on delivering high quality products on schedule to our worldwide customers. We set high expectations for ourselves and require the same from our contractors. As a result, we outlined a number of strict parameters for our PLM search," said Mr. Hubert Ermel, manger of R&D controls at SEW-EURODRIVE. "The ability to directly integrate with our MCAD and ECAD systems, combined with the ability to reflect SEW's processes in its system, made Dr. Maier CSS and Eigner the logical choice for our PLM solution."
"To be successful in product development and lifecycle management, it is critical to be able to connect various users and enterprise application systems together in one coherent network," said Helmut Maier, general manager of Dr. Maier CSS, PDM consultant. "Two of Eigner's strengths are its CAD integration capabilities and its ability to automate real-world lifecycle processes. As a result, SEW-EURODRIVE has increased efficiency in the document management and design change processes, enabling them to deliver their high quality products to market faster, while meeting specific customer demands."
With the first phase of implementation completed, the Eigner solution now manages SolidWorks 3D design documents and 2D drawings, enabling SEW to complete its transition from its legacy CAD systems. Additionally, SEW has defined and implemented its change and release processes in the Eigner solution, providing stable and secure, automated product lifecycle processes.
