Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources Management Launches Accela Automation as New E-Government Solution

Plan Review Divisions of the Regulatory Agency Are First to Utilize the New System

DUBLIN, Calif., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of government enterprise management solutions, announced today that the Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) has launched the company's Web-based software solution, Accela Automation(TM) at their Downtown and West-Dade (MDPIC) Offices, which will initially handle their Municipal Plan Review activities.

Accela Automation is being implemented as DERM's new Environmental Enterprise Operations System (EEOS). A key benefit for DERM is that the new system delivers an enterprise solution that automates workflow and business operations without sacrificing the critical GIS functionality the agency needs. One of the key functions DERM uses is the Proximity Alerts feature within Accela GIS(TM) to automate and support their map analysis activities and streamline the plan review process, a task they were performing manually.

Eventually, the Accela Automation system will be implemented in other divisions to provide DERM with a fully integrated computerized system to streamline the land management, permitting, and code compliance activities throughout the agency. Additional divisions that will implement the system include Pollution Control Division, Natural Resources Division, Water Management Division, Water & Wastewater Division, Air Quality Management Division, and Enforcement Division.

"The project at DERM is a great example of how Accela solutions are able to meet the complex technical and functional requirements set forth by agencies," stated Dr. Robert P. Lee, Accela's president and CEO. "We are very excited about completing this first phase and we look forward to continued success at DERM."

DERM joins more than 20 other agencies within the state of Florida utilizing Accela products. These include: Altamonte Springs, Bay County, Clearwater, Gainesville, Hillsborough County, Jackson County, Key Biscayne, Lee County, Leon County, Martin County, Miami Beach, Miramar, Orange County, Orlando, Osceola County, Pinellas County, Plantation, South Florida Water Management District, Tallahassee, and Winter Springs.
